About the University
Since its creation in 1885, Yonsei University has been synonymous with international
education and exchange in Asia. As the most internationalized and liberal institution of higher
learning in Korea, Yonsei enjoys by far the longest history of international education in Korea

Exchange students at Yonsei University's extensive have the opportunity to receive the best

extensive curriculum, with over 1,200 courses taught in English. In addition, UIC, GSIS, and

universities, including Harvard University, Stanford University, and Columbia University.

Application process
If you are allocated for an exchange at Yonsei, you will be officially nominated by the Go
Abroad Office and will then be provided with your detailed application instructions. You can
ONLY apply if officially nominated.

Academics

Courses available Searching Courses in English
1. Go to http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr/main/indexe.jsp
2. Click on the "Course Catalogue and Syllabus:
Undergraduate and Graduate" banner on the right
frame.
3. Search for the course that you want to take either by
choosing Major and Semester or by inserting course
title or course code in the search box if you know it.
Korean Language Courses
Since 2013 Spring Semester, Yonsei University has been
offering only one Korean Language Institute (KLI) Course for
incoming exchange and visiting students. Taking a Korean
Language Course is optional. Please refer to the following new
Korean Language Course Module for your plan of Korean
Language Study.
If you are at the intermediate level in Korean, you can consider
the Korean Language Course offered by Underwood
International College (UIC). UIC offers a 3 credit Korean
Language Course for its students as well as incoming
exchange and visiting students every semester. So if you feel
burdened to take a 6 credit KLI Korean Language Course, the
UIC course may be another option.

* Business courses are restricted to business majors only and
students can take a maximum of three business courses.

Course enrolment Each semester, both domestic and international students
compete with each other to register for their courses of choice
through the online course registration system. Please keep in
mind that this process is very fast and some say it is similar to
a lucky-draw. Therefore, students who fail to register for their
courses should consult with the respective professor to get a
seat.
Academic restrictions Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Music, MBA, Law,
and Courses offered in International Songdo Campus.
Business courses are in high demand every semester, so they
are strictly open to business major students only. Maximum of
three (3) classes on the subject per semester is allowed.

Your final course selection must be agreed and approved with your Exchange
Coordinator and any course changes made whilst you are away must have
their approval.
Accommodation

accommodation Students interested in applying for on campus
accommodation are encouraged to apply online as soon as
the application is available. Provision of on campus
accommodation is not guaranteed due to limited space.
Application process Application dependent on housing option selected. Students
will be notified of the process during their application to the
Yonsei.
Students interested in staying at on-campus housing must
submit a separate housing application as soon as it opens
online. Please note that housing is not guaranteed due to
limited spaces. Rooms will be served on a first come, first

Costs

Please remember that you will not be paying tuition fees as
an exchange student.
The estimated budget you will need is around USD $4,500
per semester.
Insurance All incoming exchange & visiting students are obligated to
obtain personal health insurance. Please enrol in a health
insurance plan of your choice, as there is no designated
insurance service provider but it is recommended that you
choose a study abroad plan which will cover medical expenses
to be incurred during your exchange in Korea. Mandatory
insurance plans provided at your home institution may be
sufficient, but proof (an official letter) must be provided.
Other
Orientation Orientation for all international students will take place after
arrival.
