Introduction
Dear Students and Parents,
It is a great pleasure to welcome both new and returning pupils to the International
School of Estonia.
I am pleased to present the PYP Handbook, our guide to the Primary Years Programme
curriculum framework for children in preschool through grade 5.
ISE PYP programme is built on the cornerstones of IB teaching and learning
philosophy:
● The IB LEARNER PROFILE is fundamental to all learning and teaching in the PYP.
• CONCEPT BASED INQUIRY is the leading pedagogical approach of the PYP
● AGENCY as the power to take meaningful and intentional action, and
acknowledges the rights and responsibilities of the individual, which supports
voice, choice, and ownership for everyone in the learning community.
Please be aware that our Programme of Inquiry is a living document and the units
currently listed may change as we plan, teach, and assess them collaboratively. Thank
you for your understanding.
Have a happy, successful and enjoyable school year!
Terje Äkke
