Libby Finn GK Reference
To whom it may concern,
Libby joined the club at the start of pre season this year and has since come on leaps and bounds
with her technical and tactical understanding of the game. Having come from a club like Everton
where she played at RTC level, Libby brought the professionalism to the squad that we needed and
encouraged the girls around her to follow on the same path.
Libby had to work hard the first couple of weeks with is to establish her place in the squad. Training
with the other keepers and players in the squad Libby learned the values of the club fairly quickly
and adopted the way we wanted the club to look and the players to play.
Training recently has focused around positioning and the attention to detail in terms of this. Libby
has worked incredibly hard around this topic and has recently seen vast improvements in her game
and has been able to cover much more of the goal and had more of impact for her team on a match
day
Areas of the game where Libby is strong include dealing with one on ones. Libby uses the correct
shape when addressing players in the block shape to have maximum coverage of the goal and is not
afraid of diving at feet and smothering the ball. Other areas of the game she is strong include shot
stopping and distribution. Libby adopts strong areas of the goal after recent work with me and the
first team goalkeepers this allows her to affect both sides of the goal and can manipulate her
position to affect the striker as well. Distribution is the focus of all of our training session with each
session having an element of distribution involved. In this time, she has become effective at playing
around and playing through.
Finally, going forward Libby needs to do more work around her ability to deal with crosses. more
work technically around her technique when coming from crossing and the decision making for a
punch or a cross and how to protect herself better.
To conclude, Libby is a great kid who has shown an incredible attitude to learning and wanting to
improve herself. Recent performances in games have shown the amount of work she has put in on
the training pitch and would be a good addition to your goalkeeping department
