                                                                        CALCULUS
                   Text: Thomas’ Calculus – Early Transcendentals, Volume One, Second Custom Edition for Princeton Uni-
                   versity.
                   Grading: The Final Examination counts as 40 percent of the course grade; the Midterm Test counts as 25
                   percent of the course grade; homework is 10 percent and the classroom quizzes will be 25 percent.
                   Midterm Test: Lasting ninety minutes, the midterm will be given during the week of March 10–14 at a time
                   and place to be announced (probably Wednesday evening, March 12). The midterm cannot be taken earlier
                   than scheduled. If you must be away for an athletic event, you should make arrangements for your coach to
                   administer the test.
                   Final Examination: The final will be scheduled by the registrar in the period May 14–24 and will last three
                   hours.
                   Quizzes: Classroom quizzes will be given weekly. The lowest two quizzes will be dropped. There will be no
                   make-up quizzes.
                   Homework: Weekly homework assignments will be given and graded. Unless your instructor announces
                   otherwise, the following policy will apply. No partial credit will be given for wrong answers on the homework;
                   the aim is to encourage careful work. Students are encouraged to work together on the homework. Please
                   staple your papers together, write clearly in sentences, and circle your answers. The homework grade will
                   count only minimally as a direct component of the course grade, but the only way to learn this material and
                   do well on exams is by working the homework problems.
                   Review sessions: Spyros Alexakis will conduct weekly review sessions, Wednesdays 7:00–9:00 in Fine 314.
