A CARING SMILE!
Submitted by: Pam Morgan, Logan County EOC Counselor
Have you ever been around someone who has the brightest smile? Sometimes a bright
smile is all someone needs to see to feel better. Katelan White’s bright smile is helping
others have a better day. While attending the Logan County Adult Learning Center
to complete her GED program, she is also preparing to start courses at Hopkinsville
Community College to pursue Health Science Technology starting with Phlebotomy.
She explained she was interested in helping people and has thought about a career in
nursing. She has several areas of nursing she is thinking about: nursing assistant tech
or maybe a nurse in labor and delivery. The possibilities for Katelan will be endless
when she completes her first step to become a phlebotomist. It also helps that she isn’t afraid of
needles or squeamish!
Currently, Katelan works in the housekeeping department at Creekwood Nursing Home and
Rehabilitation Center in Russellville. She took the job to support herself and her young toddler son
Gavin. What she has learned from Creekwood is that there is a lot of care one can give someone in
need regardless of the job. She sees the same people each day who are also helped by the nurses. She
likes her work and the patients who live there and those who are there for a short rehab stay.
Someday soon she will be helping a patient and sharing that bright smile that helps them relax and
know someone cares about them. Congratulations to Katelan for pursuing your dream!
