Process when visiting a site / affected community
Before
• Team leader provides an orientation to team members
• Team members familiarize themselves with the data collection tools,
and read the guidance notes
• Team members sign the Code of Conduct and give it to the team
leader
During
• At a site, the team splits up and different data collection
mechanisms can be used in parallel by different team members
• Notes can be taken during data collection / discussions / interviews
After
• Team debriefing to discuss results
• 1 entry should be completed on KOBO for each:
• FGD

• Observation per site / affected community

Basic standards in relation to interviewing
and documenting information as part of the
MIRA assessment and which safeguards the
best interest of respondents’ safety and
security.
• Humanitarian principles
• AAP / PSEA (Core Principles and CHS)
• Data confidentiality
• Breach of the Code of Conduct
• Signature
All assessment team members must sign
the CoC and hand these to the assessment
team leader who should return the signed
sheets to OCHA.
