Intro To FB
- Facebook Ads is an auction based marketing platform, this means that every time
your ads are active they are entered into a backend auction to determine which
advertiser gets priority with the placements
- Facebook ads started in 2007 meaning that they have plenty of data on all their
users meaning we can target people based on specific demographics or criteria we
aim for
- Facebook currently owns Whatsapp and Instagram so ads get marketed on there
also all from the same platform
- Facebook ads allows us to scale very quickly and with high volume something that
the other platforms do not let you do
- It may not be the most friendly advertising platform but once you get comfortable
it is fairly easy to master and start testing products with
- Facebook ads will be here for a long time, and will continue to adapt and evolve so
it is a great skill that is very versatile
Getting Started With FB Ads
- To get started you will need a Facebook account that has been aged
for at least 3 years, the reason is because FB is notorious for banning
advertisers and they know advertisers will try to pull a fast one on
them and make a new account to run ads, so a older account is
needed!
- If you do not have one it is highly recommended you use one of your
friends or families accounts to get started. (Make sure this person is
local to you because FB does check IP Address location and if to far it
can trigger a ban)
- You want to use the FB profile as normal for 3 days before using it for
ads
- Once the account is ready sign into it as normal from there in a new
tab go to this website: business.facebook.com/overview
FB Ads Hierarchy
- First off we have the Profile aka the Battleship itself, this shows FB
who is running the ads and gives us the ability to start ads
- We then have the Business Manager aka the Command Center, this is
where we create and manage all the other assets in the Facebook
account
- Ad Account is next up, this is where the magic happens! This is a Army
Commander that picks and creates recruits and sends them off to the
world to reach our goals (aka this is where you create ads and send
them off to FB,IG and/or Whatsapp
Profile -> BM -> Ad Account
How To Preserve Data (Multiple Pixel Setup)
-Shopify Pixel Update:
- One important thing to mention before we speak on any topics is to avoid using
the new native shopify pixel integration. This integration allows FB to go ahead
and go through your store and find the .myshopify url, instantly telling them all
they need to know about this store. This can be a big issue down the line if you
get banned and need to restart from a new profile.
- Instead we recommend using a 3rd party app such as, Multipixel by Omega.
These do not directly allow FB to link fully with your shopify store, so in the
event you get a profile banned there's still a chance you can get ads back and
operational for your store.
- Now we want to have access to multiple Profiles/BMs for the next step, so ask
your parents, siblings, cousins, friends or whoever and try to get at least 1
backup although the more the merrier (I typically have 2 backups at a time)
How To Preserve Data (Multiple Pixel Setup)
-Each BM will have its version of the store domain attached to it, and we will setup the
pixel and make sure it fires on these. These can be the .co or any other variation of
the domain
- So let's think about why this is important…. Lets say FB decides to fully delete your
BM, your main profiles useless... now what…
- Well attaching new pixels to the store basically mean that you have multiple pixels
that are literally identical in data tracked!
- The reason these are on different profiles is to keep everything separate completely
so these pixels do not look associated with the one that got banned
- Everytime you lose a pixel I highly recommend adding another one
- The more profiles you have the more pixels I would recommend but I recommend 3
max at a time as your site speed tends to slow down past this
