Crystalline Versus Amorphous Solids
Solids with simple structures and non-directional
bonds, e.g. metals and alkali halides, have very
low viscosity fluids above the melting point and
easily crystallize upon cooling.
Solids with complex structures and strong, highly directional bonds,
