WRITE AN

• Start with rubric.
• Define key terms.
• Tell us where your essay is
heading = have a THESIS!
• Content, with plenty of
examples.
• Counter-arguments.
• Where do you land?
• Link to thesis and arguments in
conclusion.
HOW DO I WRITE AN ESSAY?
• Deconstruct question.
• From 2021: ‘The House of Representatives in the Commonwealth Parliament,
but these have been compromised in recent years.’ Evaluate this claim with
reference to three distinct functions of the House of Representatives.
• DON’T RUSH. Spend 30 seconds thinking about what the question is asking you
to do, and what it is NOT asking you to do.
• E.g. this question is NOT asking about the Senate!
