• Voice the Resistance
• Take on the voice of their resistance
• Give them the chance to take on the voice of change
• You’ll often face resistance if you’re taking on the voice of change
• Rate motivation to change again.
• Open Hands
• Be completely open if they choose to not work on letting go of their
habit/addiction at this time.

• Devil’s Advocate
• Go to the moment in time when tempted (or future moment)
• Write down all the tempting thoughts
• You take on the voice of the tempting thoughts
• They take on the voice that defeats the temptations.
• Do not reverse roles to help if they get stuck.
• Stay paradoxical.
• Record it.

• Remove all temptation from home and work space (junk food, liquor etc.)
• Problem/Solution
• Response Prevention
• For 15 minutes, change your typical response when tempted (e.g., eating the food,
going to your car to drive to the casino)
• Instead listen to Devil’s advocate recording then drink some water, go for a walk, etc.
• Accountability Check
• Choose a time today. Mission accomplished or I stubbornly refused.
